Binghamton Pastor Faces a Church Trial Over Gay Marriage Ceremonies

A Binghamton United Methodist Church minister is to face a church trial for marrying same-sex couples, against church doctrine.

Tabernacle United Methodist Church Pastor Stephen Heiss was warned to stop preforming same-sex marriages and apologize for officiating at previous ceremonies, including his daughter’s or face possible action.

The pastor and the district Bishop had 90 days to come to a solution, but none reportedly was reached.  There has been no word on when a church trial may convene.
