Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]The future of Binghamton's First Ward will be the focus of a community workshop.

City officials say the program will be held at the First Ward Senior Center at 226 Clinton Street from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Residents and business owners will be able to learn about efforts to revitalize the area.

Funding for the project is being provided by the state's Brownfield Opportunity Areas Program.

Planners hope to develop a framework to utilize "underutilized" properties in the First Ward.

Organizers of Tuesday evening's event say this will be the first opportunity for the community to take part in the planning process.

More information about the effort may be found at the First Ward Revitalization Strategy website.
