Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]A 35 year old homicide investigation is still open.  New York State Police are putting out a renewed call for information in the 1980 murder of 30 year old Barry Marquart of Binghamton in the area of Otsiningo Park.

The man’s body was found in shallow water in the Chenango River two days after he was reported missing from his apartment by a roommate on November 7.

His car was found at Exit 5 off Interstate 81 north earlier in the day and his wallet was located at Otsiningo Park south of the rest area.  It was also discovered his watch was missing.

An autopsy determined Marquart drowned but he had received injuries from blows to his head and face.

Investigators say they still are looking for anyone with information to contact them at (607) 567-7434 and ask to talk to Investigator Matthew Hicks of the Major Crimes Unit.

The location of the homicide no longer exists as it has been paved over after the rest area was closed and became part of an expanded Otsiningo Park.

Officials say many leads have been followed up on but the case remains open.
