The owners of the Binghamton Mets are responding in court to allegations of breach of contract in an offer by Florida-based Main Street Baseball LLC to buy the team.

B-Mets President Michael Urda says he reached out to Eastern League offices after negotiations with Main Street broke off.

In papers filed in Federal Court in Utica April 10, lawyers for the Binghamton Mets say a of letter intent is not an enforceable contract and only an agreement to talk about a possible sale.

After the talks stalled, the lawyers say, the Mets ownership waited the necessary 60 day period for terms to be finalized before moving on to pursue other offers.

Reportedly, a second buyer has come forward who would keep the Double-A Binghamton Mets in the Parlor City.  The talks with that party are on hold until the lawsuit is settled.

A hearing is scheduled in Federal Court in Utica April 15 to decide if the new negotiations can continue or if a preliminary injunction would be issued until the resolution of the lawsuit.
