Binghamton Mets Look To Even Series Tonight
The New Britain Rock Cats spoiled the B-Mets return to NYSEG Stadium last night with a 6-3 victory over Binghamton. Kennys Vargas ripped a grand slam home run and a two-run double to account for all six runs for New Britain. B-Mets starting pitcher Matt Bowman gave up four runs over 5-2/3 innings of work and suffered the loss dropping his record to 3-4. New Britain's Virgil Vasquez earned the win upping his record to 4-2.
For Binghamton Darrell Ceciliani drove in a pair of runs while Matt Clark hit a solo home run to give Binghamton their runs. Dustin Lawley went 0 for 4 to snap his nine game hitting streak.
Binghamton's record is now 31-28. The two teams meet again tonight at NYSEG Stadium in a 7:05 start (air at 6:50 on News Radio 1290 WNBF). Greg Peavey will start on the mound for Binghamton. He was 0-3 during a recent stint in with Las Vegas in Triple-A. The teams square off in the series finale tomorrow at 1:05 PM.
