The Binghamton Mets have made the championship round of the Eastern League playoffs for the first time in 20 years.  Binghamton defeated the Portland Sea Dogs 8-5 yesterday in the fifth and deciding game of the Eastern Division Championship Series to progress to meet the Richmond Flying Squirrels for the Eastern League Championship.  Richmond won the Western Division title in four games knocking out Akron.

The B-Mets trailed two games to one in Portland but the offense came alive to pound Portland pitching for 19 runs in two games to win the series.  Now, the B-Mets face the Flying Squirrels for the overall championship.

The Championship Series is also a best-of-five format.  The first two games will be played in Richmond tomorrow night and Wednesday night at 6:35 (air at 6:20 on News Radio 1290 ).  There will be a travel day on Thursday  and then the series resumes with a 7:05 PM game at NYSEG Stadium Friday.  Should there be a fourth game needed it would be played at 7:05 Saturday in Binghamton and should there need to be a fifth and deciding game that would be played Sunday at 6:05 in Binghamton.
