Binghamton Mets Head to Eastern League Championship Series

The Binghamton Mets head to the Eastern League Championship Series for the first time in 20 years after defeating the Portland Sea Dogs this afternoon 8-5 to win the Eastern Division Championship of the Eastern League.  Binghamton advances to play for the League title versus the Richmond Flying Squirrels who won the Western Division  crown over Akron in four games.

In today's game Binghamton used a six run fourth inning to move to a lead of 8-1 and then held on with superb relief pitching from Hansel Robles and Cody Satterwhite to clinch the series three games to two.  Satterwhite got the save as he gave up one hit but no runs in the ninth inning. Gabriel Ynoa went 5.2 innings to get credit for the win.  Darrell Cecilliani keyed the offense with a pair of doubles and three RBI.

Binghamton and Richmond open their best-of-five championship series in Richmond Tuesday evening.  Game two is also in Richmond on Wednesday night.  Following a day to allow for travel the third game in the series will be in Binghamton on Friday night 7:05 PM   Should game four be necessary it would be played Saturday with game five if needed set for Sunday.  All games home and away will be broadcast on News Radio 1290 WNBF,
