When the Binghamton Mets play in Richmond tonight at 6:35 PM (6:20 PM airtime on News Radio 1290 WNBF) they will carry the Eastern League's best record into the game.  The B-Mets are 42-26 with a winning percentage at .618.  In the Western Division Erie has the top mark at 36-31...a .537 clip.  The B-Mets lead Portland by 6 1/2 games and Trenton by 9 games.

B-Mets outfielder Cesar Puello  who has been injured, is currently third in the Eastern League in hitting average at .330.  Allan Dykstra is now fifth with an average of .318.  Right behind is Josh Rodriguez who is batting .314....eighth in the EL.  Puello had been setting a torrid pace before being sidelined by an injury.

On the mound Rafael Montero was third in the circuit with an earned run average of 2.43 prior to his move to Las Vegas and Triple-A ball.  He had formed a potent 1-2 punch with Logan Verrett who leads the Eastern league in victories with a record of  8-2.  With Montero moving up Manager Pedro Lopez will rely more on Erik Goeddel.  Goeddel is off to a solid start and is 6-2 with a 4.27 ERA.

Following three games in Richmond the B-Mets return home for a weekend series against the Erie Sea Wolves.  Game one is set for Friday evening at 7:05 at NYSEG Stadium.
