Binghamton Mets Celebrate Independence Day Tonight at NYSEG Stadium
The Binghamton Mets will celebrate the July fourth holiday tonight as they host the Altoona Curve in a 6:35 PM game (air-time at 6:20 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF). There will be a hot dog eating contest before the game, a post-game jersey auction and a Double Grand Finale Fireworks Show after the game as well.
This is the final game of the B-Mets homestand. They open a five-game series in New Hampshire tomorrow night at 7:05. Regular season games will not be held next Tuesday and Wednesday as the Eastern League will hold its annual All-Star game.
Last night Binghamton topped the Curve 4-2 as Darin Gorski pitched 5 innings to get the win. He gave up two runs on five hits in earning his second win of the season. Danny Muno was hot at the plate with a 3-3 night.
With the win the B-Mets move to 51-29 and have a lead of eight and one-half games on Portland and 11 and one-half games on Trenton in the Eastern Division of the Eastern League. Binghamton has won nine of it last twelve games. Tonight's scheduled B-Mets starter is right-hander Cory Mazzoni. Mazzoni is 4-2 this season.
