A Binghamton man is accused of stealing merchandise from a Johnson City store.

Village Police say 37 year old Jason Pearce was arrested July 1 on a felony count of tampering with physical evidence and misdemeanor charges of possession of burglar’s tools and petit larceny.

Police say Pearce is accused of cutting security tags from four North Face jackets at the Gander Mountain Store on Harry L. Drive then concealing the merchandise under his jacket.  Authorities say Pearce allegedly ran from security officers and tried to high the jackets.  He was found at North Side Park and taken into custody.  The stolen jackets were recovered.

Pearce was sent to the Broome County Jail.
