Binghamton Man Dies in Delaware County Crash

A Broome County man has died following a vehicle crash in the town of Andes.

Authorities say 27-year-old Brendan Fields of Binghamton lost control of a PT Cruiser on County Highway 2 April 6 at 7:40 a.m..

State police say the vehicle went across both lanes of the roadway before striking a tree with the driver-side roof, coming to rest in a culvert.

Fields was taken to O'Connor Hospital in Delhi, where he died a short time later.

Investigators determined Fields was driving too fast for the icy road conditions.

Police say Delaware County coroner Richard Ucci determined Fields died as a result of severe head trauma sustained in the crash.
