A Binghamton man is charged with drunk driving after Broome County Sheriff's officials say he lost control of his car on Mill Street in the Town of Binghamton, crossed the road, drove through a ditch and hit a street sign that got stuck under his vehicle, rupturing his gas tank.

Officials say 31 year old Anthony Santucci kept driving as his car caught fire, leaving a trail of burning gasoline behind him until the back of the car became engulfed in fames, forcing Santucci to abandon the vehicle.

In addition to DWI, Santucci is charged with failure to keep right and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was ticketed and released. But he was then was turned over to Binghamton police where he is also being investigated for a domestic dispute prior to the crash and fire.
