Binghamton Man Charged with Attempted Robbery

Bob Joseph/WNBF News [file][/caption]A suspect has been arrested in connection with an attempted robbery of a Tioga County convenience store.

Authorities say 34-year-old Travis Cornell of Court Street, Binghamton, was accused of trying to rob the Xtramart store in Newark Valley.

According to the Tioga County Sheriff's Office, Cornell was charged with first-degree attempted robbery, a felony.

Investigators say on the evening of September 11, a man displayed a knife and demanded money from the cash register of the North Main Street store.

Cornell was arraigned in Newark Valley town court and sent to Tioga County Jail without bail.
