Binghamton police say they've made an arrest after two people were hurt by a man wielding a Samurai-type sword.

Authorities say Kyle Wood of Binghamton was taken into custody Thursday in Johnson City.

Investigators say Wood had been wanted in connection with an October 27 assault in the First Ward. They say two people were struck by a sword during a disturbance on Colfax Avenue.

One of those hit by the sword - a 40-year-old man - sustained serious hand injuries. Police say the fingers on one hand were nearly severed. He underwent emergency surgery at Lourdes Hospital in Binghamton.
