Binghamton police say they've arrested a city man in connection with an incident in which a person was struck in the face with a scooter.

Authorities say 21-year-old Shaquell Heyliger has been charged with second-degree assault in the attack.

The incident happened during what police described as a "neighborhood fight" on the afternoon of June 18 near 34 Winding Way.

A man involved in the dispute was seen chasing another person with a handgun. One person was hurt when he was smashed in the face with a scooter.

Heyliger initially was arrested on a bench warrant for disorderly conduct from the village of Johnson City.

Binghamton police later charged him in connection with the scooter attack. He was arraigned in city court and sent to Broome County Jail.
