One of two parolees accused of bursting into a Binghamton apartment armed with a knife and a handgun close to two years ago and assaulting the woman inside admits his participation in the home invasion.

38 year old Kareem Young has pleaded guilty to felony attempted burglary and felony perjury in the Rutherford Street attack on December 1, 2014.

The plea comes a day before Young was to stand trial.

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office says Young faces 2 to 4 years for perjury and five years for attempted burglary.  Sentencing is set for February 16.

38 year old James Sharpe of Johnson City, is charged felony burglary in the case.

Investigators say Sharpe had been released on parole in 2013 after he pleaded guilty in 1995 in the fatal shooting of 20 year old Binghamton University student Hamza Tawfig.
