Binghamton Highway Exit Closed For Reconstruction

Thousands of Binghamton commuters will be using alternate routes to head into the downtown business district for the next two months.

The Front Street exit off Route 17 eastbound has been closed as part of the Prospect Mountain construction project.

State Department of Transportation officials say crews are starting to reconstruct the exit.

A signed detour guides drivers to Interstate 81 northbound to Front Street using exit 5. Motorists should use the left lane through the work zone to access the Front Street exit ramp on I-81 northbound.

The exit off Route 17 was closed on Monday morning.
