Festivals and other gatherings to take place in the City of Binghamton next year will have to obtain their permits earlier and pay higher fees.

During it's final session of 2012, City Council approved changes that require groups to apply for a permit 35 days before the event, instead of the previous 25 days.

Permits will cost $25.00. The previous fee was $10.00. The charge for hanging a banner publicizing the event has soared from only $10.00 to $50.00.

This is the first adjustment to the City's permit fee structure in about thirty years.
