A construction-related closure of a section of Front Street in Binghamton will continue for another week.

City officials have been advised by Vacri Construction that a detour between Clinton and Gaines streets will remain in place through April 10.

The heavily-traveled Front Street Gateway was expected to reopen today. A notice from Vacri indicated the closure was being extended "due to unforeseen conditions." The statement did not elaborate.

Crews are installing sanitary sewer pipe and storm drainage for the McDonald Avenue pump station renovation and Trout Brook storm replacement project.

Limited local traffic will be allowed in the area of the construction. There will be access for vehicles heading to the Broome County Health Department and Lourdes offices on Front Street.
