New York's education commissioner plans to conduct a forum in Binghamton on the new Common Core educational standards.

The session featuring commissioner John King Jr. is to be held Monday evening at West Middle School.

King will discuss the Common Core guidelines and other educational reforms at the forum, which will be open to the public.

The session is to be moderated by the League of Women Voters.

Those who wish to speak at the gathering will receive a numbered index card when they arrive. Speakers will be limited to two minutes.

The public speaking portion of the forum is scheduled to run 90 minutes.

Members of the state Board of Regents, including Binghamton native James Tallon are planning to join King.

The Binghamton program is to start at 6 p.m. Monday. West Middle School is located on West Middle Avenue between Helen Street and Kneeland Avenue.
