The former Crowley Foods facility on Conklin Avenue was acquired in 2013 by Mountain Fresh Dairy of Queens.

HP Hood closed the plant in March 2012. That move left 54 people without jobs.

For the past year, a team of workers has been busy installing equipment for the new Mountain Fresh kosher dairy operation.

Plant manager Gary Bensley said production at the plant could start "in a few weeks."

Bensley said the facility initially would process fresh fluid milk. The plant also is expected to produce cottage cheese and cream cheese, along with bottled water.

Mountain Fresh Dairy received loans from the Broome County Industrial Development Agency and from the Binghamton Local Development Corporation.

Last November, company officials said between 85 and 90 people eventually could be hired when the plant was fully operational.
