Binghamton Contractor Charged with Grand Larceny

A Broome County man has been accused of taking money from a town of Maine resident for a roof project and failing to do any work.

Authorities say 55-year-old Timothy Rypkema of Binghamton has been charged with felony grand larceny.

Investigators say Rypkema has been accused of accepting a $1500 down payment but not doing the job.

Rypkema was said to have been doing business as Free Lance Construction. He was arrested today by a Broome County Sheriff's Office detective.

Rypkema was ordered to appear in Maine town court December 20 for arraignment.
