Binghamton police say a First Ward business and a parked vehicle were hit when shots were fired on Clinton Street.

Investigators are trying to determine who was responsible for the gunfire that erupted Sunday morning.

Police were called to 348 Clinton Street at 7:17 a.m. with a report of shots fired. The building houses the 17 East tavern and an apartment.

A man who lives nearby told WNBF News he heard four shots in rapid succession.

Detectives said although people reported hearing multiple shots, there was no indication that anyone was hit.

A wall to the right of the bar's entrance has two marks apparently caused by bullets. A vehicle parked in front of the business also was hit.

An investigator said several shell casings were recovered at the scene, although it hasn't been determined what type of gun was used.

A vehicle was reported leaving the area after the shots were heard but police don't know if it was connected to the shooting.

Police canvassed the neighborhood in an effort to determine who fired the gun but they have been unable to find out exactly what happened.
