Binghamton Birthday Bash For Boomer

Saturday will be a special day at the Discovery Center of the Southern Tier on Binghamton's South Side.

Boomer, a red kangaroo from Animal Adventure Park in Harpursville, will be the guest of honor at a party celebrating his first birthday.

The party is scheduled to run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Discovery Center on Morgan Road, next to the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park.

Boomer visitedWNBF Radio's Binghamton Nowprogram Thursday. For a moment, he appeared ready to co-host with Bob Joseph.

Jordan Patch of Animal Adventure said Boomer's growing rapidly and soon, he'll be to big to hopping around radio studios. He's expected to grow to be about six feet tall and probably will weight about 200 pounds.

Pokey Crocker of the Discovery Center is encouraging children and adults to make plans to attend Saturday's birthday celebration for Boomer.
