Binghamton Mayor Richard David says the City is taking steps to crack down on code violators, especially in areas identified as problem neighborhoods.

David joined Code Enforcement officers June 6 for an enforcement sweep on the West Side.

Citations were issued for such violations as unsafe sidewalks and porches, tall grass and weeds and improper disposal of trash.

Last week’s action was the third of five enforcement sweeps planned in the City.

Officials say so far, 80 violations were identified in an enforcement action on the North Side. 60 citations were written on May 17th in an area of the Front Street corridor.

Future enforcement focus will turn to the South side and First Ward.
