The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team continues preparations for the 2013-14 campaign.  The Bearcats host the University of Rochester in an exhibition game on Tuesday night November 5th at 7 and then remain home to open Division I play against the University at Buffalo on Friday night, November 8th at 5:30 at the Events Center.

Head Coach Nicole Scholl returns for her fifth season at the helm.  Scholl has been with the program since 1999 when she joined the Bearcats at the Divison II level.  She hopes to lead her team to a better season than last year when the Bearcats finished 6-24 overall and 5-11 in America East competition.

The Bearcats plan to run the floor more this year.  To do that they will rely heavily on Senior guards Stephanie Jensen and Vaneeshia Paulk.  Jensen made 17 starts last year and led the team in 3-point makes with 37.  Paulk started 25 games and  scored in double figures 6 times.

Another key to the Bearcats improvement will be sophomore forward Morgan Murphy.  Murphy was named the America East Rookie of the Week for her play during the week of November 12th.  She impressed teams around the conference enough to earn All-Rookie First Team honors.  Last season she averaged 7 points per game.

The BU women will travel to the New Mexico Tournament in late November.  They meet the host school on November 29th and then face either Southeast Missouri or Arkansas the following night.  The Bearcats open conference play at UMBC on January 4th at 1 PM.
