Binghamton Bearcats Women Set For Conference Opener

The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team opens their America East schedule Saturday with a 1 PM game at the University of Maryland-Baltimore County.  The Bearcats raised their record to 3-10 with a pair of victories over the weekend at the Dartmouth/ Blue Sky Women's Basketball Classic held at Leede Gym in Hanover, New Hampshire.

The Bearcats topped the University of Massachusetts in the opener on Sunday.  Then BU topped LaSalle Monday 57-56 for a sweep of the two-day event and the tournament championship.  It's their first in-season tournament title since the Bearcats captured the BU/Time Warner Classic in 2003.

Junior forward Sherae Swinson scored 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds to pace the Bearcats in the title game.  For her efforts Swinson was named the Most Outstanding Performer in the tournament while sophomore forward Morgan Murphy was selected to the all-tournament team.
