The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team hopes the dawning of a new year means better things in store on the hardwood.  The Bearcats are in Lowell, Mass. to face the River Hawks at 7 PM (air at 6:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  It is the America East opener for both teams.

The Bearcats have struggled through 15 non-conference games winning just once.  The River Hawks are 6-6 but have lost four straight.  Overall in meetings between the two teams stretching back to Division III days UMass Lowell holds a commanding 6-1 advantage.  Last year the River Hawks used a 19-2 run out of the gate in the second half to pull out a 62-55 home victory.

Binghamton will have its leading scorer back.  Freshman Dusan Perovic, who is averaging 11.6 points per game, is ready for action.  He missed Tuesday's non-conference game against the Buffalo Bulls at the Events Center after suffering a concussion in practice over the Christmas break.
