Binghamton Bearcats Earn Split vs Hartford Hawks

The Binghamton Bearcats came close to sweeping their America East Conference openers last night.  The BU women got their second win of the season matching up against Hartford, one of the Conference’s powerhouses.  Hartford had won 9 of its first 13 games coming into the Events Center last night.

The Bearcats battled back from an eleven-point deficit in the second half to top Hartford 46-44.  Jasbriell Swain notched 8 points and added 16 rebounds for Binghamton while Sherae Swinson added a team high 11 points in the Bearcats win.  Binghamton had not defeated Hartford in the Events Center since the 2004-2005 season.

Binghamton’s men’s team dropped a hard-fought 71-68 decision at the Chase Family Arena in West Hartford last night.  Hartford led by 8 points with 3:55 to go in the game.  BU trimmed that margin to 3 points with just :48 left.  With :25 to go Wes Cole hit his only shot of the game to make it 69-62 Hartford.
