The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team defeated Mount St Mary's last night in Emmitsburg, Maryland 74-70 for their second road victory of the season.  The win evened the all-time series at 2-2.

BU got off to a solid start and led 30-20 at the end of the first half.  Binghamton was up by as many as 19 points in the second half before the Mountaineers kicked into gear.  BU had held The Mount to just 25 per cent shooting from the floor in the first half.  But, using a 17-5 run Mount St Mary's stormed back into contention and cut the lead for BU to a single point in the closing couple of minutes of the game.

The Bearcats hit eight of ten free throws down the stretch to hold on and secure the win.  Guard Julian Norfleet struck for 26 points in the game as he keyed the comeback.  Binghamton had four players in double figures.  Freshman Marlon Beck paced the BU attack with 19 points including four- three-point baskets.  Yosef Yacob was outstanding  with 18 points including a 9-9 showing at the free throw line.

Also in double figures were sophomore Jordan Reed with 17 points.  Freshman Nick Madray had his first double-double as a Division I player.  The 6-9 forward hit for 12 points and added 10 rebounds.

With the win the Bearcats move to 2-6 on the season while Mount St Mary's falls to 2-7.  The Bearcats face a huge test Saturday when they travel to the Carrier Dome to meet the Syracuse Orange at 7 PM (airtime at 645 on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  Syracuse is undefeated and ranked fourth in the nation.
