A few hundred NYSEG customers in the Binghamton region lost electric service for a time Tuesday.

Shortly before 2 p.m., the utility reported 357 customers without electricity in Broome and Chenango counties.

Nearly 200 of the affected customers were in the town of Maine. Just over 100 were in the town of Windsor. Other customers without power were in the towns of Binghamton, Conklin, Triangle and Otselic.

NYSEG spokesman Bob Pass said the rainy, windy conditions were "posing a few challenges" for the utility.

Pass said line crews had been assigned to handle each of the areas where outages had been reported.

Some NYSEG customers in eight other upstate counties were without electric service early Tuesday afternoon.

The biggest problem spot for the utility was in Westchester County, where nearly 1,700 customers were without electricity.
