Playoff implications will be a big part of this weekend's America East action when the Bearcats baseball and softball teams take to the diamond.at the Bearcats Sports Complex.

The BU baaseball team looks to move up in the conference srtandings as it faces the Hartford Hawks.  The Bearcats have an AE slate of 10-10 good for third place while the Hawks are 11-10 and in second place.  The top 4 teams qualify for the America East tournament.

Binghamton carries an overall record  of 21-19 into the weekend after dropping a non-conference game to Siena 10-3 yesterday.  The Bearcats will then host Maine next weekend and travel to Albany on May 17 and 18.  Maine leads America East with a record of 14-6 while Albany is in second place with a 13-8 slate.

The Bearcats softball team hosts Albany in a three-game series beginning with a 1 PM doubleheader on Saturday.  The winner of the weekend wins the America East regular season title.  BU is 13-2 and Albany is 13-1.  Whoever wins two out of three in the weekend series wins the crown and will host the conference tournament  next weekend.

The Bearcats have been red-hot. They swept Cornell yesterday in Ithaca by scores of 7-0 and 1-0.  Binghamton has won 26 of its last 32 games and has an overall record of 28-13.
