The Town of Dickinson may be getting a ‘microtel’ hotel.

During his State of the Town Address February 22, Supervisor Michael Marinaccio said a 70 unit hotel is planned at the site of the old Stella Ireland School near the Prospect Terrace Fire Station.

Marinaccio says the building has been vacant for a number of years and will be torn down.

The proposal has been through the site plan review process and was also reviewed by the Broome County Planning Department.

The Supervisor says the next step is to present the project to the full Town Board.

A public hearing will be scheduled to change the zoning of the site from R1-R2 to Planned Unit Development.

Officials hope to break ground in April or May.
