Opponents of hydraulic fracture drilling for natural gas put out a rallying cry a day before New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was scheduled to be at an invitation-only event on the Binghamton University Campus to promote his idea of creating tax free zones near SUNY campus for start-up companies. The groups urged as many people as possible to congregate on the Vestal campus prior to the governor's arrival.

While the fracking opponents were gathering their 'Yes to Local Economies, No to Fracking' signs, supporters of natural gas exploration in the Marcellus Shale were driving to Albany for their own event.

The Joint Landowners Coalition was setting up to make presentations at the New York State Legislative Office Building. The group says it was set to debunk myths about fracking.

The governor has said he will have a decision on drilling before the 2014 election.
