Organizers of the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner at Binghamton High School are busy making preparations to expand the event.

School officials say they are planning to open up additional seating areas and are going to implement a shuttle bus service to help community members get to the dinner.  The district is currently exploring several possible shuttle-bus pick-up and drop-off points and those locations along with the schedule will be announced soon.

Officials also say due to the expansion of the seating areas and addition of the bus service that the home delivery and "take home" meals options will be discontinued.

“By bringing everything under one roof, so to speak, we are better able to ensure quality and maximize resources in order to make this the best dinner ever,” said Mark Bordeau, city schools food service director.

Marking its 18th consecutive year, the all-volunteer dinner is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day; which is November 22nd this year.  The meals are served at Binghamton High School's two main cafeterias by students and staff members.

The annual dinner is funded through community donations and through fundraising campaigns by the Binghamton High School National Honor Society.
