‘Vestal Golden Bears Crush Oneonta Yellowjackets 60-22 at Dick Hoover Stadium

Bears are ‘golden’ in Vestal

The Vestal Golden Bears crushed the Oneonta Yellowjackets tonight at Dick Hoover Stadium in Vestal by a final score of  60 – 22.  Vestal’s ground game was superb as Zach Cook ran 49 yards with 4:51 left in the first quarter to put the Golden Bears up 6-0 and Vestal never looked back.

Justin Dennis caught a 23 yard touchdown pass from quarterback Nick Wegmann with just 17 seconds to go in the opening period to put the home team up 14-0.  Marshall Case upped Vestal’s lead to 21 points early in the second quarter with a nine-yard TD run.

Pat Carlin notched the next two Vestal scores with a 2 yard TD run and a 33 yard pass reception from Wegmann.  Case scored his second touchdown late in the second quarter to put the Golden Bears ahead at the half 41-0.

In the second half Vestal used its reserve players to add 19 more points to coast to the lop-sided win.  Vestal raises its record to 3-1 and meets cross-river rival Union Endicott in Endicott next Saturday ( 7 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF).  Oneonta drops to 0-4 with the road loss.

On Saturday undefeated Maine-Endwell hosts the Johnson City Wildcats at Spartan Stadium in Endwell (130 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
