The Binghamton Bearcats men's soccer team defeated Stony Brook last night 4-3 on penalty kicks in an America East quarter-final playoff game at the Bearcats Sports Complex.  The win enables the Bearcats to advance to a semi-final playoff game Wednesday night at Hartford.

In last night's game the teams battled to a 1-1 tie through two overtime periods.  That set the stage for the contest to be decided via penalty kicks.  After BU goalkeeper Robert Moewes stopped Tavares Thompson, Bret Celeste, BU's junior midfielder booted the ball past Stony Brook's goalkeeper for the winning tally.

The last time Binghamton was in a penalty kick situation was 2006 when the Bearcats defeated Boston University 6-5 in an America East semifinal.  Binghamton defeated Hartford 1-0 on October 4 in their regular season meeting.

Bearcats' head coach Paul Marco will will preview the Hartford playoff game Wednesday morning at 8:10 with Roger Neel on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
