The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team suffered a major setback when it was learned that standout freshman forward Dusan Perovic will be sidelined for the rest of the season after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in practice.  He will need to undergo surgery to repair the damage.  He was running drills in practice when the injury occurred.

Perovic was averaging 11.5 points per game and earlier this season set a new school record with points in a game by scoring 34.   Perovic also gave the Bearcats an outside scoring threat and had the best three-point shooting percentage on the team making 24-53 shots from beyond the arc...better than 45 percent.

The injury to Perovic is even more of a severe blow to the inexperienced Bearcats since sophomore Nick Madray remains sidelined for at least another month with torn ligaments in his ankle suffered in a game on December 20.

BU meets the Hartford Hawks January 7 at the Chase Family Arena in West Hartford.  Airtime is 6:45 p.m. with Roger Neel calling the action on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
