The Binghamton Bearcats softball team has taken over first place in America East after winning two of three games in Albany this weekend.  Following a split in a doubleheader on Saturday the Bearcats clobbered the Great Danes on Sunday 10-2.  The victory puts Binghamton's America East record at 12-3 while Albany stands at 10-3.

Jessica Rutherford drove in three runs for the Bearcats.  In the series Rutherford went 6-11 for a team-best .545 average.

There is one more regular season weekend coming up.  The Great Danes travel to third- place Stony Brook while Binghamton hosts the Hartford Hawks on Friday and Saturday.  If the Bearcats capture the regular season championship they will host the America East Championship Tournament next week at the Bearcats Sports Complex.
