The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team held their Play 4Kay Game Saturday, Jaanuary 30 at the Events Center versus Maine.  The game was geared towards raising awareness and funds for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.  Kay was a long-time women's basketball coach at North Carolina State who died from breast cancer in 2009.  Since then the fund has raised over five million dollars for research against the disease.

Binghamton Coach Linda Cimino pledged five dollars for every point scored by the Bearcats in the game.  Lourdes and Lourdes Hospital partnered with Binghamton University to have the Mission in Motion RV at the Events Center to provide mammograms for women over the age of 40.

Cancer survivors in attendance were honored before the game.  At halftime Coach Cimino presented each survivor with a flower in a ceremony at center court.  Coach Cimino's mother, a two-time survivor of breast cancer, was honored as was Mary Beth Walsh, who underwent surgery and chemo treatments for breast cancer in the last year and has been declared cancer free. Mary Beth is a former Market President and Chief Revenue Officer and current Media Specialist for Town Square Media in Binghamton.
