The Binghamton Bearcats men's and women's basketball teams are in action today (February 20) as they host the UMass Lowell River Hawks in a doubleheader at the Events Center in Vestal.  The women's game begins at 2:00 PM with the men to follow at 4:30 PM.  Air begins at 1:45 on News Radio 1290 WNBF.

In their first meeting at UMass Lowell last month Binghamton won an overtime thriller 75-70.  Kim Albrecht's three-point bucket at the buzzer in regulation keyed the BU victory.

Heading into today's game BU is 11-15 overall and 6-7 in America East.  The River Hawks are 4-22 and 1-13 in conference action.

The Bearcats are led by sophomore guard Imani Watkins who averages 15.8 points per game and Alyssa James who is scoring 14.8 points per outing.  Senior Kim Albrecht leads the nation in free-throw shooting scoring .923 percent of the time (72-78).

The BU men also look for a season sweep over the River Hawks.  Binghamton defeated UML on the road last month 64-57. The Bearcats are 6-20 and 3-10 in America East.  The River Hawks are 11-16 and 7-7 in conference action.

Binghamton can finish the regular season anywhere from fifth to eighth place in the conference standings.  The River Hawks are in fifth place in America East but are not eligible for post-season competition until the 2017-18 season after moving to Division I competition three seasons ago.
