The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team dropped a 71-64 contest to the Columbia Lions at Levien Gymnasium Wednesday, December 9.  Alyssa James put on a stellar display with 33 points, six rebounds and three blocks.  But that monumental performance was not enough to carry the Bearcats to a road win.

James' performance produced the third highest point total at the Division I level for the Bearcats.  Sarah Cartmill and Erica Carter each scored 35 points for BU in past seasons.  The overall school record is held by Jen Gaeta and Bess Greenberg who each scored 38 points in a single game.

Imani Watkins also scored in double figures with 11 points.  Rebecca Carmody had eight points and snared 14 rebounds for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats fall to 3-6 while Columbia moves to a 6-3 slate.  Next up for the Bearcats is a trip to Sacred Heart for a 1:00 PM game on Saturday, December 12.  The Bearcats return home Tuesday, December 15 to host Nyack at 5:00 p.m.  The BU men host St. Francis of Pa. at 7:30 that night to complete a doubleheader.
