The day started out on a bright note for the Binghamton Bearcats as the women's basketball team defeated New Hampshire on the road 55-42 Saturday.  But hopes of a sweep vanished with the Wildcats' men topping BU 68-56.  BU was riding high with an eight point lead at the half but New Hampshire roared back to dominate the second half and pullout the victory.

In the first game Mallory Lawes and Jasbriell Swain led the Bearcats with 11 points each.  Kara Elofson ended the day in double figures with 10 points.  Swain also grabbed 12 rebounds to finish with her 12th double-double of her career.

The win puts the Bearcats America East record at 4-10 while UNH drops to 5-9 in AE play.  The BU women travel to Vermont Wednesday for a 7 PM match-up against the Catamounts.  Airtime at 6:50 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF.

In the nightcap BU led the Wildcats 34-26 at the half.  But a 17-1 run midway through the second half crushed the Bearcats hopes for a sweep as the Wildcats outscored Binghamton 42-22 over the second 20 minutes.

Jordan Reed again had a huge game for Binghamton as he scored a game-high 24 points and grabbed 16 rebounds.  Reed now has 12 double-doubles on the season and is a strong candidate for AE Rookie of the Week and Player of the Week honors.  Over the last five games the Bearcats' standout freshman is averaging 20.2 points and 12.6 rebounds.

Brian Freeman also had a big game for BU with 14 points and 6 rebounds while Jimmy Gray  hit for double figures with 10 points. With the loss the Bearcats drop to 1-13 in the conference while New Hampshire moves to 4-10 in AE play.  Next up for the Bearcats is the home finale for the season when they host Vermont on Senior Night this Thursday at 7:00 PM (6:50 aitime on News Radio 1290 WNBF).
