When the Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team opens its 2018-19 season on November 6th at the Events Center against the Cornell Big Red fans will see lots of new faces on the court. Eight newcomers will suit up for Tommy Dempsey's team.  Two newcomers are actually "veterans".  6-4 forward Chancellor Bernard and 6-4 guard Richard Caldwell, Jr.are expected to see plenty of playing time.

Barnard is a graduate student at Binghamton.  He comes to the Bearcats from Loyola, Maryland where he played three seasons with the Greyhounds.  He saw duty in 91 games with Loyola and played in one game against the Bearcats scoring 11 points. Barnard shot 52 percent from the field over his career and averaged 4.7 points per game along with 3.2 rebounds.

Caldwell comes to the Bearcats from Lamar Community College  where he averaged 12.6 points per game over two seasons.  Last year he scored at a 16 point per game clip.  Lamar was ranked 11th in the nation among junior college programs last season.
