A jam-packed Bearcats Sports Complex crowd cheered on the Binghamton University  men's soccer team Saturday as they tied the nationally-ranked UMBC Retrievers 1-1 in a Homecoming night contest.  An announced crowd of 1,967...the eighth largest recorded at the Bearcats Sports Complex was on hand.

The teams battled through a scoreless opening period.  The Bearcats broke the deadlock when at the 70 minute mark Ben Ovetsky ripped a shot from the left wing into the net for his first goal of the season.

The Retrievers countered just seven minutes later with a score by Greg Hauck to make it 1-1.  It was Hauck's fourth goal this season.

The teams ended regulation play still deadlocked at 1-all.  They played through two sudden-death overtimes and ended the night even at 1-1.

The Retrievers, ranked 16th in the nation by Soccer America, now check in at 6-2-3 and 1-0-1 in America East.  The Bearcats are 3-5-3 and 0-0-2 in conference play.  Next up for Binghamton is a trip to Hartford to face the Hawks on Wednesday night.
