The Binghamton Bearcats men's and women's basketball teams are getting ready for the upcoming season.  Both teams open the 2017-18 campaign on Friday night November 10.  The women play at Army while the men host Morgan State.  Both games begin at 7:00 PM.

Coach Tommy Dempsey welcomes back 11 lettermen.  The Bearcats are coming off of a record of 12-20 and 3-13 in America East. In the America East Coach's Preseason Poll the Bearcats are picked to finish sixth in the nine-team conference.

Much of the hope for a good season rests on the shoulders of guard J.C.Show.  Show suffered a torn triceps tendon and had season-ending surgery after playing in 12 games last year.  He averaged 13.3 points per game which was tops on the team.  His best performance was against Central Connecticut State when he scored 34 points which tied a school record.

The Bearcats are also counting heavily on the school's Division-One era leading scorer Willie Rodriguez.  Rodriguez suffered from a hamstring injury for much of last season and still averaged 12 points per game.

Inside success will revolve around two standouts in Thomas Bruce and Bobby Ahearn.  Bruce has the potential to be a dominant forward in the conference while Ahearn was selected as the team's MVP with a 9.7 points per game average.

Fans can follow the Bearcats throughout the season on News Radio 1290 WNBF and CBS Sports Radio 1360 AM.  All games home and away will be aired on the air, online and with free phone apps as well.
