The Binghamton Bearcats baseball team opens the 2016 season this weekend at Houston Baptist with a pair of doubleheaders.

The Bearcats are looking to rebound from an off year last season when they missed playing in the America East tournament for the first time since 2005.  In the America East pre-season poll the Bearcats were picked to finish in fifth place.

Binghamton has plenty of success over recent seasons under veteran coach Tim Sinicki who returns for his 24th season.  The Bearcats won America East Championships in 2013 and 2014 and have advanced to the NCAA playoffs three times in the last seven seasons.

The Bearcats lost two key players from last season in Major League Baseball Draft Pick Jake Thomas (27th round selection of the Toronto Blue Jays) and centerfielder Zach Blanden.  Binghamton has 19 letter winners coming back including seven starting position players and two weekend starting pitchers.

The Bearcats home opener is scheduled for March 22nd with America East play beginning March 26th.  The America East tournament will be held May 26-29 in Lowell, Massachusetts.
