The Binghamton Bearcats men's basketball team meets the Oakland University Golden Grizzlies for the first time ever December 7 at 7:00 p.m. in Rochester, Michigan. Oakland is a member of the Horizon League, which is comprised of ten schools including the Golden Grizzlies.  The league is made up of teams mostly located in the Midwest.  Other members include: Valparaiso, Milwaukee, Green Bay, Youngstown State, Detroit, Wright State, Cleveland State, University of Chicago (UIC) and Northern Kentucky.

Ironically, when Binghamton University decided to make the move to Division I the Horizons League was one of the leagues/conferences considered for membership.  With the closest member Youngstown State the conference membership would have required numerous flights for away games.

Heading into the Bearcats game, the Golden Grizzlies are 4-3 with their latest win over Robert Morris on the road December 5.  The game versus the Bearcats is just the second home game of the season for Oakland.  The Golden Grizzlies also face the Michigan State Spartans this month.  They play at the Breslin Center on December 22nd against the Spartans.
