The Binghamton Bearcats basketball teams split their games with the Hartford Hawks last night.  The women earned a 53-47 road win over Hartford at the Chase Family Arena in West Hartford.  The BU men dropped a 76-72 decision at home at the Events Center to the Hawks.

In the women's victory Imani Watkins scored 19 points, Rebecca Carmody notched 15 points and Alyssa James had a double-double performance with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The win gives BU a 7-9 overall record and 2-1 in America East.  The seven wins are the most since the 2011-12 season when the Bearcats won 13 games.

The Binghamton men's basketball team lost a tough one to the Hawks in Vestal.  The Bearcats shot 47.9 percent from the field compared the Hartford's 46 percent.  Binghamton also had the edge in three-point shooting and rebounding but below par free-throw shooting (21-34 for 62 percent) and 18 turnovers compared to eight for the Hawks made it difficult for BU to mount any big runs to take the lead..

Willie Rodriguez paced BU with 19 points and Everson Davis hit for 17 for Binghamton.  Justin McFadden and Thomas Bruce each scored 11 points.  Bruce nailed a double-double with 12 rebounds.

The Binghamton women are next in action when they host Albany on Monday, January 18 at 2:00 PM on Martin Luther King Day.  The men travel to Albany Monday night to face the Great Danes in a 7:00 start.
