The Binghamton Bearcats women's basketball team defeated UMBC 49-41 Saturday night at the Events Center to head to the America East semi-finals this afternoon (Sunday) against the four-time defending champion Albany Great Danes. It is the first trip to the semi-finals since 2012 when Binghamton lost to the Great Danes 58-50.

Senior Kim Albrecht led the Bearcats with 18 points and Imani Watkins tossed in 15 to lead BU in scoring.  Rebecca Carmody grabbed 11 rebounds for Binghamton as well. Pandora Wilson led the Retrievers with 19 points.

The winner of Binghamton's meeting with Albany goes to the championship round to meet the winner of the other semi-final game between Stony Brook and Maine. The America East champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The first semi-final game between the Black Bears and Seawolves is set for 2:00 PM.  Binghamton's meeting with Albany follows at 4:15 PM.  Airtime for the Bearcats contest is set for 4:00 PM on News Radio 1290 WNBF.
